Things Dad Taught Me: Blessed Family
June 4, 2025

I. Every happy family begins with a marriage.

Proverbs 18:22– He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.

Proverbs 19:13– A foolish child is a father’s ruin, and a quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping.

Proverbs 19:14– Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.

II. Happy homes are guided by parenting.

Proverbs 19:18- Discipline your children, for in that there is hope; do not be a willing party to their death.

Proverbs 20:7– The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them.

“Don’t worry that children never listen to you; worry that they are always watching you.” —Modern Proverb

III. Blessed families are built on a foundational to Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 5:21– Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Next Steps:

  1. For married couples: Identify one small way you can be a blessing to your spouse this week. Share your intention with the group.
  2. For parents: Reflect on an area where you need to be more intentional in either disciplining or modeling positive behavior for your children. What specific steps can you take?
  3. For families together: As a family, craft a family mission statement. What kind of Christian values will you as a family seek to practice and uphold in your relationships with one another? Discuss practical ways you could live these out.
  4. For everyone: Consider how you can deepen your commitment to Christ this week. How might this impact your family relationships?
