Things Dad Taught Me: Blessed Family
June 4, 2025
I. Every happy family begins with a
marriage.
Proverbs 18:22– He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.
Proverbs 19:13– A foolish child is a father’s ruin, and a quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping.
Proverbs 19:14– Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.
II. Happy homes are guided by
parenting.
Proverbs 19:18- Discipline your children, for in that there is hope; do not be a willing party to their death.
Proverbs 20:7– The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them.
“Don’t worry that children never listen to you; worry that they are always watching you.” —Modern Proverb
III. Blessed families are built on a foundational
to Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 5:21– Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Next Steps:
- For married couples: Identify one small way you can be a blessing to your spouse this week. Share your intention with the group.
- For parents: Reflect on an area where you need to be more intentional in either disciplining or modeling positive behavior for your children. What specific steps can you take?
- For families together: As a family, craft a family mission statement. What kind of Christian values will you as a family seek to practice and uphold in your relationships with one another? Discuss practical ways you could live these out.
- For everyone: Consider how you can deepen your commitment to Christ this week. How might this impact your family relationships?
