1 John 5:1-12

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” — Deuteronomy 6:5

1. We love God through

“This is love for God: to obey his commands…” — 1 John 5:3
“If you love me, you will obey what I command.” — John 14:15
“…To obey is better than sacrifice…” — 1 Samuel 15:22

2. We love God through

“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well…” — 1 John 5:1
“God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8

3. We love God through

“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’” — 1 Peter 1:16
“Do no conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2
