The contrast between King Saul and King David

DAVID BECOMES KING OVER ALL OF ISRAEL

David will be a king who serves his people

The Lord exalts David

Blessings flow into David’s life as the Lord exalts him

Lessons for us:

GOD WANTS US TO GROW IN OUR LOVE FOR JESUS

Everything in the Bible has something to do with Jesus

Jesus was tempted to exalt himself but waited for His Father to do so
(Luke 4:7-8; Philippians 2:8-11)

WE CAN BE GRATEFUL BECAUSE GOD IS EXALTING US

The humble will be exalted
(Luke 14:11; 1 Peter 5:6)

It is a tremendous blessing to be a Christian
(Ephesians 1:3; 2:6-7; 1 Corinthians 2:9)

Our identity in Christ

KNOWING WE ARE BEING EXALTED SHOULD IMPACT OUR LIVES

We should be able to sleep at night

We don’t have to worry about the approval of others

May the Lord help us to not try to exalt ourselves but to be patient,
trusting the Lord to do so at the proper time
