Ice Breaker: What was something “crazy” that you believed as a kid?

1.) Were you aware of the fact that there was so much evidence supporting the validity of the New Testament documents? How does that change or fortify your impression of the Bible?

2.) Concerning the Bible possibly being legend: Luke 1:1-3 (pg. 947) and 1 Corinthians 15:3-6 (pg. 1063) record that the testimony of the apostles was that many were still alive and could corroborate what they had written. Have guests read those two passages and ask what they would think if they were reading this as any other ancient piece of literature with no bias either way.

3.) Were you aware that Jesus made so many comments about Himself concerning His deity? (Look back at Manual, Page 15 for Scripture references)

4.) What are your personal thoughts or feelings concerning the deity of Jesus Christ? If true, how does or do you believe it should affect the way you live and relate to others?
• Mark 2:1-12 The healing of the paralytic (pg. 928)
• John 8:56-59 Jesus declares He is “I am” (pg. 992)

5.) Lord, Liar, Lunatic…How did that sit with you? What did you think about the C.S. Lewis quote on Page 16 of your manual? Have you ever thought through that before?

6.) How did the evidence for the resurrection on Page 17 of the Manual impact you? Have you ever really thought through the events that took place on that first “Easter” Sunday?

7.) Do you personally believe that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead? If true, what are the ramifications of it being true? How does that make you feel or think, whether you believe it or not? (No judgment here, just a question to consider)

8.) Read Matthew 16:13-17 (pg. 911) When Frank asked, “If Jesus came to you, looked you in the eyes and asked, ‘But who do YOU say that I am?’” how do you believe you would answer?
