BiG Idea: Jesus is

Our challenge is to one another to Jesus

Hebrews 6:19
19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.

We have

in Jesus

Hebrews 6:20
20 Jesus has entered there on our behalf as a forerunner, because he has become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

Hebrews 7:25
25 Therefore, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, since he always lives to intercede for them.

Hebrews 7:26
26 For this is the kind of high priest we need: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.

Hebrews 7:27–28
27 He doesn’t need to offer sacrifices every day, as high priests do—first for their own sins, then for those of the people. He did this once for all time when he offered himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak, but the promise of the oath, which came after the law, appoints a Son, who has been perfected forever.

Hebrews 7:1–3 (emphasis added)
7 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, met Abraham and blessed him as he returned from defeating the kings, 2 and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, his name means king of righteousness, then also, king of Salem, meaning king of peace. 3 Without father, mother, or genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever.

Hebrews 7:4–10 (emphasis added)
4 Now consider how great this man was: even Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth of the plunder to him. 5 The sons of Levi who receive the priestly office have a command according to the law to collect a tenth from the people—that is, from their brothers and sisters—though they have also descended from Abraham. 6 But one without this lineage collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed the one who had the promises. 7 Without a doubt, the inferior is blessed by the superior. 8 In the one case, men who will die receive a tenth, but in the other case, Scripture testifies that he lives. 9 And in a sense Levi himself, who receives a tenth, has paid a tenth through Abraham, 10 for he was still within his ancestor when Melchizedek met him.

Genesis 14:18–20
18 Melchizedek, king of Salem,, brought out bread and wine; he was a priest to God Most High. 19 He blessed him and said: Abram is blessed by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, 20 and blessed be God Most High who has handed over your enemies to you. And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

Psalm 110:1–4 (emphasis added)
1 This is the declaration of the LORD to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.”v2 The LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion. Rule over your surrounding enemies. 3 Your people will volunteer on your day of battle., In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, the dew of your youth belongs to you., 4 The LORD has sworn an oath and will not take it back: “You are a priest forever according to the pattern of Melchizedek.”

Hebrews 1:3
3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.,

Righteousness results in peace

Isaiah 32:17–19
17 The result of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever. 18 Then my people will dwell in a peaceful place, in safe and secure dwellings.

Romans 4:4
4 Now to the one who works, pay is not credited as a gift, but as something owed.

Romans 4:5
5 But to the one who does not work, but believes on him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited for righteousness.
