Day 264 - Celebrate with Others

Monica Barnes

“Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.” - Romans 12:15 NLT

“If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.” - 1 Corinthians 12:26 NLT

“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. 43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity — 47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.” - Acts 2:42-47 NLT

When we find our people, and our people become like family, we will naturally become empathetic toward them.

Empathetic - showing an ability to understand and share the feelings of another.

When the people in my life are hurting, I’m hurting with them. When they are excited and happy, I’m excited for them. When I’m hurting, they hurt. When I’m excited, they are too. That is one of the best parts of having a group of people in our lives. We literally “do life” together.

Who do we share our triumphs and heartaches with if we’re alone?

Lord, thank you for creating us all differently but similarly, so that we may find common interests with one another – especially our love for you. Thank you, Jesus, for showing us what it means to have a strong friend group. I lift those to you who are without a friend group. Guide them to their people. Break our hearts for them so we can see past ourselves and into the hearts of the ones we love. In Jesus’s name, amen.
