“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven. What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.” —Matthew 18:10-14
- God cares about all His followers and will fight for us individually.
“If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?” —Matthew 10:12
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” —Psalm 23
- God at times leads us down paths that we would not willingly go.
“He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” —Psalm 23:3-5
The Lord is [not] my shepherd;
I shall [have nothing but] want.
[I never] lie down in green pastures.
[I am never] beside still waters.
[My soul is never restored].
[I wander in paths of darkness for no reason]
[When I ] walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
[I fear evil],
for[ no one is] with me;
[no rod or staff, comfort me.]
[No one prepares] a table before me,
[I am] in the presence of my enemies;
[No one anoints] my head with oil;
my cup [is empty].
Surely [evil and vengeance] shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell [alone] forever. —Psalm 23 (REVERSED)
God wants what is ultimately best His followers and He fights for us and with us for our own good!
