Part of Restore: Reclaiming Sexual Integrity

Main Idea:
The tension between grace and truth.

Check-In (Highs & Lows) 15 min
A great, quick way to catch the highlights of what is happening in the lives of the people in your group is to take turns quickly sharing the “highs & lows” of your week. High: What was your biggest highlight since we last met? Low: What was the low point during this time?

Settle-In (Ice-Breaker) 10 min
Is it more important to feel right or be correct? What is the difference between the two?

Dig-In (Scripture) 35 min
1. As a group, read John 8:2-6 together. When was a time that you felt overly judged by religion? How did that affect your faith walk?

2. When was a time that you have felt unfairly accused of something?

3. Read John 8:6-8. When was a time that you threw the first stone? What was the result? What do you most regret?

4. Read John 8:9-11. When was a time that Jesus has shown you grace when you feel that you didn’t deserve it? Explain.

5. After experiencing God’s grace, what would be an actionable step that you might take in your life?

6. Read John 1:14-17. As a group, discuss the tension between grace and truth; how should we best walk that out with;
1. Fellow believers

2. Non-believers.

Gear-Up (Application) 15 min
1. Examine a time in your life where you knew you were right but could have shown more grace. How could you have reacted better to the person/situation?

2. Brainstorm and discuss some tactics that everyone can use to share truth but do so in God’s grace.

Step-Up (Homework)
Examine whether you approach things as more truth or more grace. Dig into God’s Word and prayer this week. As you find those areas, pray for his intervention to better walk the tension between truth and grace. Share those next week with the group.
