SERMON NOTES

Firm Foundation - Zach Lamberson

Matthew 6:19-24 - Treasures in Heaven

What are you doing to prepare for eternity?

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 Cor 5:10, NKJV

Earthly treasures are those things we can’t take with us when we die.
The rich young ruler and his possessions.

Mark 10:17-22

Earthly treasures won’t be worth anything during the End Times.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” Revelation 6:6, NKJV

Every good work we do as believers is rewarded in heaven.

“And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.” Matthew 10:42, NKJV

The command to “not store up treasures” is given to guard our hearts.
Jesus is telling us we need to be focused on things that bring us light.

He who has a generous eye will be blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor. Proverbs 22:9, NJKV

You cannot serve two masters, it’s literally impossible.
The parable of the unjust steward.

Luke 16:1-13 10.

If unbelievers plan for their futures, how much more should we?

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10, NKJV
