Reflection Questions

Read Nahum 2:1-13

Icebreaker — If you were to open a restaurant, what food would you serve and who would be your ideal customer?

  1. Observations: What are your impressions of Nahum 2?

  2. Historical Context: How do verses 2 and 13 provide insight into God’s motives and justice? How is His faithfulness revealed by restoring His people?

  3. Accountability: Is it right for God to judge evil, rebellion, and rejection against Him? What accountability do you expect from people in your home, work, or school?

  4. Godly Judgment: What would you say to someone who struggles to understand why God punishes sin? Why do you think our culture struggles with this?

  5. Pride & Autonomy: Nineveh was the most powerful city in the world when it fell. In their pride, they believed they were unstoppable. Can you identify areas of your life where your pride is blinding you from your vulnerabilities? How can you address this?

  6. Comfort: God powerfully avenges those who stand in opposition of Himself and His people. How have you experienced God’s protection in the past year?

  7. Hope: Nahum’s prophecy is filled with hope for His people. If you’re a Christian, what verses have you found most comforting? (Ex: Romans 8:1)
