Becoming an Ark Builder
- I Will Give My
So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high. Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. Genesis 6:14-16
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

- I am Set
Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. Genesis 6:11-13
Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires… By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 2 Peter 3:3, 6
But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord… Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. Genesis 6:8-9
Noah did everything just as God commanded him. Genesis 6:22
THIS WEEK’S POWER VERSE
The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
- Our Urgent
I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.” Genesis 6:17-22
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
- There’s Only One
Then the Lord shut him in. Genesis 7:16
Jesus said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved…” John 10:9

CONNECTION GROUP GUIDE
Opening Prayer: Begin your group with prayer, asking God to guide your discussion and help apply the lessons from Noah’s story to your lives.
Key Takeaways:
God calls us to radical obedience, just as He called Noah to build the ark.
We are called to be set apart in a world that may be hostile to our faith.
Our mission to reach others for Christ is urgent and purposeful.
Jesus is the only door to salvation, mirroring the single door of Noah’s ark.
Discussion Questions:
1) Noah’s Obedience:
How do you think Noah felt when God asked him to build the ark? What challenges do you think he might have faced?
In what areas of your life is God calling you to step out in obedience, even if it seems difficult or doesn’t make sense?
2) Being Set Apart:
How did Noah stay faithful in a corrupt world? What can we learn from his example?
What are some ways our culture today is similar to Noah’s time? How can we stand firm in our faith?
3) Urgent Mission:
Why is there so much urgency in sharing the gospel? How does this relate to Noah’s story?
What “arks” are we building in our lives or church to save others? (e.g., ministries, relationships, facilities, etc.)
4) One Door to Salvation:
How does Jesus being the “door” relate to the single door on Noah’s ark?
How can we effectively communicate the exclusivity of salvation through Christ in a pluralistic (anything goes / multiple truths) world?
5) Perseverance:
Noah potentially worked on building the ark for up to 120 years. What helps you persevere in your faith when you don’t see immediate results?
How can we encourage each other to “kill the quit” in our spiritual lives?
Practical Applications:
Identify one area in your life where God is calling you to deeper obedience. Make a plan to take a step of faith this week.
Brainstorm ways your Connection Group can be more intentional about reaching others for Christ. Choose one outreach activity to do together in the next month.
Commit to praying daily for those in your life who haven’t yet “entered through the door” of salvation in Christ.
Memorize this week’s Power Verse, Psalm 27:1, and meditate on it for encouragement.
Reflect on how you can contribute to The Connection Church’s mission (e.g., through serving, giving, inviting others). Share your plans with the group for accountability.
Closing Prayer: End your group by praying for each other’s commitments and for the courage to be “ark builders” in your community.
