Jesus on Generosity Week 2
Part of Jesus on Generosity
February 16, 2025

Matthew 6:21
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

My faith includes my finances

BiG Prayer: Dear God, help and lead me to handle my resources according to Your Word

BiG Idea: Generosity is a

condition

It’s easier to change my than to change my heart

keeps me from a heart of generosity

is the answer to greed

When we give to the Lord, we’re saying: We You

Genesis 1:1
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.,

Deuteronomy 8:17–18
17 You may say to yourself, ‘My power and my own ability have gained this wealth for me,’ 18 but remember that the LORD your God gives you the power to gain wealth, in order to confirm his covenant he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

1 Chronicles 29:12
12 Riches and honor come from you, and you are the ruler of everything. Power and might are in your hand, and it is in your hand to make great and to give strength to all.

Psalm 24:1
1 The earth and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants, belong to the LORD;

Proverbs 3:9-10
9 Honor the LORD with your possessions and with the first produce of your entire harvest; 10 then your barns will be completely filled, and your vats will overflow with new wine.

John 1:3
3 All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.

Romans 11:36
36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen

is the goal of our faith

Acts 17:24–28
24 The God who made the world and everything in it—he is Lord of heaven and earth—does not live in shrines made by hands. 25 Neither is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives everyone life and breath and all things. 26 From one man he has made every nationality to live over the whole earth and has determined their appointed times and the boundaries of where they live. 27 He did this so that they might seek God, and perhaps they might reach out and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 28 For in him we live and move and have our being, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’

Jeremiah 17:9
9 The heart is more deceitful than anything else, and incurable—who can understand it?

Jeremiah 17:10–11
10 I, the LORD, examine the mind, I test the heart, to give to each according to his way, according to what his actions deserve. 11 He who makes a fortune unjustly is like a partridge that hatches eggs it didn’t lay. In the middle of his life his riches will abandon him, so in the end he will be a fool.

Malachi 3:8–10
8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me!” “How do we rob you?” you ask. “By not making the payments of the tenth and the contributions. 9 You are suffering under a curse, yet you—the whole nation—are still robbing me. 10 Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. Test me in this way,” says the LORD of Armies. “See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure.

Ephesians 1:3
3 Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavens in Christ.

2 Corinthians 9:7
7 Each person should do as he has decided in his heart—not reluctantly or out of compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver.

BiG Question: How much

I give

2 Corinthians 9:6–14
6 The point is this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each person should do as he has decided in his heart—not reluctantly or out of compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work. 9 As it is written: He distributed freely; he gave to the poor; his righteousness endures forever., 10 Now the one who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will also provide and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us. 12 For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the proof provided by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedient confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone. 14 And as they pray on your behalf, they will have deep affection for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you.

2 Corinthians 9:5
5 Therefore I considered it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance the generous gift you promised, so that it will be ready as a gift and not as an extortion.
