1. Misconception: “Financial Blessing is a sign that someone is ‘right with God.’”

a. How have you seen this misconception cause issues within your life or the lives of others?

b. Read John 16:33 – How does this passage reject this misconception?

c. Read Genesis 12:2-3 and 15:6. How do these passages reject this misconception?

d. The USA is known as the wealthiest nation on earth, with a median income of around $38,000 per year (or $18 an hour full-time as of 2022). Yet, according to a 2019 article from Pew Research, Christianity is in rapid decline within America. With this being the case why do many believers in America think they and their churches are “more right with God” because of financial blessings, especially in light of so many New Testament Saints being poor and homeless?

2. What does it mean to be “Content?” How do believers err in their understanding of contentment?

a. Read Philippians 4:10-13: Where is true contentment found? Why is this the only true way to contentment? Why is this contentment critical to the Christian life?

b. In what areas of your life do you struggle with contentment? How can you find freedom in this today?
