DISCUSS
1. David confronted giants who tried to expose him, who made him want to give up and go home, and who tried to snatch him. He faced a giant who sought a double hold on his life, and one who twisted good things into sources of addiction. We have established in this series that “giants” are anything that keep us from that which God has for us. Which of these descriptions fits your own “giant battle/s” of 2025? If willing, share it with your group.
2. Robert’s wife does not touch refined sugar. Cal Newport suggests abstaining from social media for 30 days. Joseph ran away from Potiphar’s wife. Is it possible to fight your unique “giant battle” by getting completely away from it? Why or why not?
3. What unique weapons has God given you for your “giant battle”? What are your five smooth stones?
4. If you shared your “giant battle” with others in the group, offer suggestions of how they can come alongside you in practical, helpful ways? Please be specific ( e.g. “Call me once a week”, “Ask me about it in this group”, “Do the scary thing with me” , “Pray with me”, “Pray for me” , etc.).
5. Sometimes fighting giants can become a way of life. Is there any part of you that finds it hard to imagine having defeated the giants in your life?
6. Read the last four scripture references above. Spend some time fantasizing about that “promised land of goodness” where the giants no longer have a hold on your life. What new horizons would open up? What kind of parent, friend, creative,

(fill in the blank) could you be?

PRAYER: Dear Lord, it is joy unspeakable that we do not confront the giants in our lives alone. You have given us mighty warriors on earth and conquerors in heaven. You have made us for so much more than ordinary. You have prevailed, and we can thrive. Thank you.
