Introduction:
The Acts of the Apostles is a book in the Bible that shows the Holy Spirit in action in the people who followed Jesus after His resurrection. It emphasizes a “Go and Be” lifestyle. This collection highlights the ministries of Peter and Paul through the eyes of the book’s author, Luke. Luke retells the stories of the first Church focusing on its formation, fervor, and fortitude.
“These men who have turned the world upside down have come here too,” —Acts 17:6b
The key verse Acts 1:8 provides the outline for the entire book:
- The Formation of the Church – Jerusalem (1:1-7:60)
- The Fervor of the Church – Judea and Samaria (8:1-12:25)
- The Fortitude of the Church – Uttermost Parts of the Earth (13:1-28:31)
In this collection, we will look at the sermons that Peter and Paul preached that led to the spread of the story that Jesus is alive.
