I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. (Ps 119:11 NIV)
Main Idea: Truly understanding God’s word is key to living a righteous life
**Ways that understanding impacts us:
- His word directs us.
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. (Ps 119:105 NIV)
I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. (Ps 119:101 NIV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Prov 3:5-6 NIV) **
*2. His word gives us strength to endure.
Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed. (Psalms 119:116 NIV)
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31) *
*3. His word is a weapon.
You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. (Ps 119:114 NIV)
