Ice Breaker:
If you could have any animal as a pet, what would you pick?
Passage:
This week’s sermon was from Psalm 27
Seeking God’s Presence 3 P’s:
Praise
Prayer
Pain
Discussion:
1) Did anything stick out to you from the message, or did you have any questions?
2) Scotty said, if we do not express our love of God, our experience of God will be incomplete. What’s something that happened this week that you could give God praise over? How do you see his presence in that moment?
3) Scotty said, prayer doesn’t make God closer but makes us aware that God is close. How has prayer helped you feel close to God? Are there types of prayer, places you’ve prayed (a church, nature, a retreat, etc.), or methods that have helped you sense God’s presence?
4) Scotty said, we often treat prayer like a flare that we only use when there’s an emergency. How can we make prayer a regular rhythm rather than an emergency tool? What would happen in our lives if our prayer life was more regular?
5) Scotty said, God often answers prayers with his presence. How does that change how you think about how God will answer your prayers? What does that teach us about what God thinks we need in our circumstances?
6) Have you ever seen God use a painful circumstance to give you more of his presence or do something redemptive in your life?
Pray:
Share prayer requests and end your discussion by praying for each other.
