Sermon: Protection
Scripture: John 17:6-19
Summary: If you belong to Jesus then you have a personal protector, one who is committed to the preservation of your soul in a world often caustic to it. While God’s protection of his people has been a constant feature from of old, it loomed large in the person of Christ and his prayer for his disciples.
For Reflection and Discussion
Read Scripture: John 17:6-19
- When have you felt the opposition of the world and the Devil?
- What do you think about the most – physical or spiritual vulnerability? Why do you think that is?
- Read Luke 22:31-34. Have you ever felt tested to the point you thought you would lose your faith? If so, what was it like?
- Read Isaiah 43:2-4. What other verses can you think of in scripture which speak of God’s protection of his people?
- When you get to heaven you will find out your ‘making it’ was more of a sure thing than you thought. How could this be true?
- What risk would you take if you knew you had someone who was the protector of your soul who never loses anyone? What good thing might you attempt?
- Read 1 John 5:18 and then spend some time thanking God for his protection of you.
