We Matter “Our Worship Matters” - John 4:19-26
So what is true worship? Why does it matter?
Last Week we started a new series called “we matter”. Worship is one of the most vital commitments. Today we will commit to worship The Lord God, King Jesus.. This is a personal commitment that has a profound public impact. Let’s take a deeper look at worship…
1. Some thoughts about Worship…
Hebrews 10:23-25
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Acts 17:24
He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is The Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man made temples…
John 14:23-24
Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them. Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the father who sent me.
2. True Worship is by Spirit
Romans 11:36
For everything comes from him and exists by his power and it is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.
Ephesians 1:3
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
3. True Worship is based on truth…
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Colossians 3:16-17
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
4. True Worship brings about life change…
John 4:39-42
Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.” So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days. And many more believed because of his word. They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.”
Conclusion: Worship…it all about Jesus…Jesus I am yours…this is my act of worship…because I am his then I love God, grow, Love others and Go. It is not about me…it is about you. What do you need to surrender to Jesus today?. Our…your worship matters!
