What’s Mine to Carry?
Before the Booth
September 22, 2024
You are accountable to do the will of God for your life.
This is how Jesus lived. In John 17, he told the Father, I have finished the work you gave me to do.
Considering the scope of the needs of His day, Jesus did precious little in the eyes of the world.
He didn’t write a best seller. He didn’t start an official organization. He didn’t travel to global cities. He discipled those He was given, preached the gospel of the Kingdom, and died as a sacrifice for sins. Potent. History-shaping. Magnificent. But relatively small at the time. It took centuries for His short, local life of love to bear fruit in the world. But it was enough because it was the Father’s will. —Pastor Jon Tyson
WHAT AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR?
1.) THE CONDITION OF YOUR HEART
18 “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.”
20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.” —Mark 7:18-2320 Human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. —James 1:20
23 Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it. —Proverbs 4:238 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God. —Matthew 5:8
2.) TO PRAY
1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. —1 Timothy 2:1-4
14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. —2 Chronicles 7:14
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on Earth as it is in heaven. —Jesus
God responds to His people when we believe that our only Hope and Help is Him alone.
3.) TO DEVELOPE DISCERNMENT
Discernment is learning to think God’s thoughts after Him, practically and spiritually; it means having a sense of how things look in God’s eyes and seeing them in some measure “uncovered and laid bare.” —Sinclair Ferguson
2 Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. —Romans 12:2
