06/21: THE HELMET OF SALVATION, SANCTIFICATION, AND MY LOT - Week 2

THE ARMOR BLACKSMITH SHOP

THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD

10  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14  Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15  and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16  above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; —Ephesians 6:10 - 17

THE HELMET OF SALVATION, SANCTIFICATION, AND MY LOT

5  O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain
my lot.
6  The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good inheritance.
7  I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; my heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
8  I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
9  Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope. —Psalm 16:5 - 9

1. The helmet of salvation protects my faith throughout the journey of sanctification.

O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. —Psalm 16:5

So then faith comes by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God —Romans 10:17

1 O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.
3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.
5 You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. —Psalm 139:1 - 6

The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance. —Psalm 16:6

7  Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8  If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9  If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10  Even there Your hand shall lead me,nd Your right hand shall hold me.
11  If I say, “Surely the darkness shall [d]fall on me,” even the night shall be light about me;
12  Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, but the night shines as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to You. —Psalm 139:7 - 12

2. The helmet of salvation protects my hope throughout the journey of sanctification.

7  I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; my heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
8  I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope —Psalm 16:7 - 9

13  For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14  I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.
15  My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16  Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. —Psalm 139:13 - 16

3. The helmet of salvation protects His perfect covenant love in me, around me, and rejoicing over me.

9  Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope.
10  For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy One to [c]see corruption.
11  You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. —Psalm 16:9 - 11

17  How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!
18  If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You. —Psalm 139:17 - 18

23  Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties;
24  And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. —Psalm 139:23 - 24

38  They will be my people, and I will be their God.
39  And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants.
40  And I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me, and they will never leave me.
41  I will find joy doing good for them and will faithfully and wholeheartedly replant them in this land.
42  “This is what the Lord says: Just as I have brought all these calamities on them, so I will do all the good I have promised them. —Jeremiah 32:38 – 42 (NLT)
