Ephesians 1:15-23 (ESV)

For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

How to Know God’s Power:

1) See the Power

Ephesians 1:18-19

…that you may know…what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us…

Ephesians 1:18

having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know…

“If we let him, He can make the feeblest and filthiest of us into a dazzling, radiant, immortal creature, pulsating all through with such energy and joy and wisdom and love as we cannot now imagine. He can make each of us a bright stainless mirror which reflects back to God perfectly (though of course, on a smaller scale) His own boundless power and delight and goodness. The process will be long and in parts very painful, but that is what we are in for. Nothing less. He meant what He said.” (C.S. Lewis)

Ephesians 1:19

and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might…

God’s Power Toward Us Is:

Resurrection Power

Ephesians 1:20

…that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead…

Installation Power

Ephesians 1:20

…and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places…

Ephesians 2:6

But God…made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

Exaltation Power

Ephesians 1:21

far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

Colossians 2:15

He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.

Saturation Power

Ephesians 1:22-23

And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

2) Secure the Power

Ephesians 1:19

…what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe…

“And all of my will has always been to conquer some horrible feeling of inadequacy. I’m always struggling with that fear. I push past one spell of it and discover myself as a special human being and then I get to another stage and think I’m mediocre and uninteresting. And I find a way to get myself out of that. My drive in life is from this horrible fear of being mediocre. And that’s always pushing me, pushing me.” (Madonna)

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…

3) Surrender to God’s Power

Ephesians 1:22-23

And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
