“Blessing Others…Being Blessed”
Series: “Live as an Exile: A Study of 1st Peter” - Message 7

Big Idea: Christ-followers bless others in ways no one else can because they have been blessed in ways no one else has.

GROUP DISCUSSION

Opening Prayer, Ice-Breaker, Worship: (begin with prayer, a fun ice-breaker, or a time of worship)

Recap & Context of Sermon: Christ-followers bless others in ways no one else can because they have been blessed in ways no one else has. Brett spoke about loving each other well through being harmonious and sympathetic with one another which requires investment in our relationships.

Read the Text: 1 Peter 3:8-12

Questions:

1. Discuss as a group the ways we love people well at GPC and also in our everyday lives.

2. Brett talked about the example of genuine cheddar cheese versus Velveta being a “cheese product”. He mentioned John 13: 35, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another”. What does it look like to be a true disciple versus just a disciple “product”?

3. As believers we are called to repay insult with blessings (1 Peter 3:9). How should we do this? How do we make this a standard of life?

4. Wrapping up, we were encouraged to speak life while keeping our tongues from evil and lips from deceit (Colossians 4:6). What we say to people matters. What are some examples in which you have seen this done well?

5. Talk as a group about serving with HOPE NWA and next week’s event that Brett mentioned Sunday morning. Register at www.GracePointChurch.net/events.

Application:
We bless by doing good, seeking peace, and blessing with confidence. We are commanded to seek the welfare of our city (Jeremiah 29:7) and to do good, which brings us to prayer. Sunday we prayed these things together, but let’s pray these as a group and church as well.

Prayer:
Love one another well…
Do good…
To be of one mind/sympathetic…
Show us places to be your hands and feet…
Pray for our next pastor.
Share requests with each other and spend some time in prayer.

honor one-another in the group, encouraging traits that you see modeled well as followers of Christ.
