Free From Fear Forever Part 6

Discussion Questions

  1. “Sneaky Fear” can be difficult to detect because it presents itself in a gradual way. Can you remember any thoughts that have presented themselves to you recently that might be slightly fear inducing? If so, what were they? (Note: The thoughts may have involved other people – especially family members or friends.)

  2. What are 3 steps that we can use to build strong faith?

    a. FIRST - Use God’s Word by meditating daily upon the scriptures where God promises to provide what you need. (Note that effective meditation requires more than just a few minutes.)
    b. SECOND - Continue to practice the first step until it raises your level of faith to the point that you become confident that God’s promise is coming to pass in your life. You can tell when you’re at this point because shifting your focus to positive thoughts will be able to displace the negative ones.
    c. THIRD – Go to the Lord in prayer and speak the following things out loud;

    i. Ask the Lord to perform His promise and declare your trust in Him to do it.
    ii. Quote out loud the Scripture you’re basing your faith upon and then declare out loud your unalterable decision to stand in faith until you receive your promise.
    iii. Cast any every fearful thought that occurs to you out of your mind by attacking it with your spoken declaration of faith. Repeat the Scripture you used in step 1 and speak it aloud where your spirit can hear it.
    iv. Visualize yourself casting fear thoughts over on the Lord every time they occur and then keep attacking those thoughts until you drive them out of your thinking.

  3. What are some of the characteristics of “sneaky fears” that will alert you to their attempt to weaken your faith?
    POSSIBLE ANSWERS;

    a. Sneaky fears will frequently present themselves as possibilities that MIGHT happen.
    b. A favorite sneaky fear that satan uses is to suggest to your mind that it may not be the Lord’s will to do this for you. (That’s a lie!!!)

  4. God’s Word says in Romans 8:32 (NIV) … He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things! What does this verse tell you about God’s love for us?

    a. Our Heavenly Father will do essentially anything for us and we’re certain of this because He was willing to let Jesus die a horrible death on the cross.
    b. There’s nothing he won’t do to bless us, protect us, and give us peace.

  5. Well, if God is willing to pay the ultimate price to provide us with the blessings of redemption and salvation, why have there been times when we haven’t received what we prayed for?

    a. Because of our lack of faith. (See Mark 6:4-6)
    b. Because of our double mindedness. (See James 1:6-7)
    c. Because we don’t ask the Lord or we ask wrongly. (See James 4:3)
    d. Sins present in our lives. (See Isaiah 59:2)
    e. Strife in your home. (See 1 Pet 3:7)
