THE ARMOR BLACKSMITH SHOP
THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;—Ephesians 6:10 - 17
THE HELMET OF SALVATION:
-Justification
-Sanctification
-Glorification
JUSTIFICATION:
-A new life of freedom and forgiveness by grace, through faith
SANCTIFICATION:
-The daily process of growing and learning to be like Jesus
GLORIFICATION
-“Our blessed hope” – Eternity with Jesus. All things made new in Heaven!
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 to an inheritance [a]incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls. —1 Peter 1:3 - 91 Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.
2 O my soul, you have said to the Lord,“You are my Lord, my goodness is nothing apart from You.”
3 As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, nor take up their names on my lips.
5 O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot.
6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good inheritance.
7 I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; my heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the Lord always before me;Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope.
10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. —Psalm 16:1 - 11
“THE TALE OF TWO CUPS”
Sanctification: Becoming more like Jesus every day is a choice of what cup I drink from - what I drink the most of is what I will be thirsty for – “desire.”
1. The helmet of salvation identifies me as a new creation in the process of sanctification.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. —2 Corinthians 5:17
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. —Romans 8:1 - 2
2. I can choose the old me and drink from the “cup” of the world – “desires of flesh.”
Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, nor take up their names on my lips. —Psalm 16:4
14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.
16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good.
17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.
19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.
20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. —Romans 7:14 - 2024 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin. —Romans 7:24 - 2517 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,
18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;
19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. —Ephesians 4:17 - 19
3. I can choose to drink from the “new” cup, which is producing the new me from His Spirit in me.
O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. —Psalm 16:5
20 But you have not so learned Christ,
21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. —Ephesians 4:20 - 24Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may
your whole spirit, soul, and body be
preserved blameless at the coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ. —1 Thessalonians 5:23
