MAIN IDEA:
Jesus wants us to have a closer

with the Holy Spirit. When we

our lives with Him, we will experience an increased sense of peace, joy, and

for our lives.

INTRODUCTION:

  1. Fifty days after

    , Jewish pilgrims would travel to Jerusalem to celebrate

    —the feast of first fruits and the wheat harvest.
  2. On that same day of celebrating first fruits, Jesus sent the

    to initiate the first fruits of the New

    —salvation by
    Reveal Answer
    through faith. That day, 3,000 people believed in Jesus, marking the birth of the

    .

    Sunday is the day Christians commemorate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the

    of His ongoing ministry on earth, fulfilling God’s promise.

A. THE PROMISE

  1. Paraclete: Jesus promised to send another

    —the Spirit of
    Reveal Answer
    —to be with His disciples (John 14:16–17).
  2. Indwelling

    : The Holy Spirit would not merely be among them but would dwell

    them (John 14:17).
  3. Right Order: Jesus had to ascend to the

    before the Holy Spirit could come and begin His earthly

    in fullness (John 16:7).

B. HOW IT WORKS

  1. How can I

    the Holy Spirit? By repenting of your sin and believing in Jesus as

    and Lord (Acts 2:38).
  2. Will the Holy Spirit

    me? No. The Holy Spirit is the

    of your inheritance until the day of

    (Ephesians 1:13–14).

    ? He indwells, justifies, sanctifies,

C. THREE FOUNDATIONAL COMMANDS

  1. Keep In Step: The Holy Spirit

    . He desires that you walk with Him in

    alignment (Galatians 5:25).
  2. Do Not Grieve: The Holy Spirit is

    . Disobedience and

    cause Him sorrow (Ephesians 4:30).
  3. Do Not Quench: The Spirit speaks and

    . He invites you to

    to His prompting, not suppress it (1 Thessalonians 5:19).

Are you intentionally seeking

The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
