Faithful Steward of Treasures

Philippians 4:15-17
And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. 16 Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit.

2 Cor. 9:8, 15
8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
15 Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

As faithful stewards of treasures, today we see that Jesus supplies richly even as we give beyond ability, so that we remain content (or learn contentment) in all circumstances.

Give:
• Giving refers to any amount offered to the Lord without

of return.

• Giving, specifically tithing represents a sanctified and holy

to the Lord. Lev. 27:30-32

Q: Why is giving important to God?

• Giving remains important to God since it reflects godly character and requires

.
Jn. 3:16; 2 Cor. 9: 6-7
2 Ki. 5:16, 20. Matt. 6:21. Mark 12:41-44. 2 Co. 11:8–12; 12:11–15

• The truth is, there is no way to grow into spiritual maturity without giving yourself

to God.

Martin Luther: I have tried to keep things in my hands and lost them all, but what I have given into God’s hands I still possess.

C.S. Lewis: I do not believe one can settle how much we ought to give. I am afraid the only safe rule is to give more than we can spare.

Closing,
Generous giving increases our faith and trust in Jesus, our rewards in heaven, and is the mark of the faithful steward of treasures.
