THE SELF-RIGHTEOUS SON

II. A SON FOOLED BY HIS OWN PRIDE AND SELF-DECEIT:
A. The older son:
1. Confused by the father’s response: v. 27
2. No love for the brother, which shows no love for the father: v. 28
3. The true image of the older brother’s heart, by his angry response: vv. 29-30
4. A glory in his own works, over glorying in the works of the Father: vv. 31-32
B. The characteristics of the older brother:

A. A self-righteous parent tends to produce a self-righteous kid.
B. We must always prioritize Christ compliance, over parental compliance, in parenting
our children.
C. The Father sought both boys, but only one of the two received Him.
