Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
1  There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2      a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3      a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4      a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5      a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6      a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7      a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8      a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

God has strong feelings about our emotions

Philippians 4:4
4  Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Romans 12:15
15  Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

Job 2:11-13
11  When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the
Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes
and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.  12  When they
saw him from a distance, they could hardly recognize him; they began to weep aloud, and they
tore their robes and sprinkled dust on their heads.  13  Then they sat on the ground with him for
seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him, because they saw how great his
suffering was.

John 16:19-22

19  Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him about this, so he said to them, “Are you asking one
another what I meant when I said, ‘In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a
little while you will see me’?  20  Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world
rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.  21  A woman giving birth to a child has
pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of
her joy that a child is born into the world.  22  So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see
you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
