1 Peter 1:1-9

1. Your source of hope is in your new identity. (1 Peter 1:1-2)


2. Your guarantee of hope is by God’s power. (1 Peter 1:3-5)


3. Your response of hope is in Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:6-9)

• Ice breaker- What are some traditions you have personally or as a family to prepare for Christmas?


• It is easy at Christmas to replace our attention and affection for Jesus on something else. Where is this a temptation for you?


• As a group read 1 Peter 1:1-2. What does Peter have to say about the identity of the people he is writing to?


• As a group discuss what it means to be elect exiles. ( what are the characteristics and implications?)


• As a group read 1 Peter 1:3-5. Describe where you find hope from this passage.


• How does this passage impact your view of God’s role in our salvation?


• As a group read 1 Peter 1:6-9. How can we have a response of rejoicing in the middle of grief, trials, and testing.
