• Isaiah 54:4 For you will forget the shame of your youth, and will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.

• Shame is a powerful, toxic emotional force that the enemy uses to rob us of our joy, our hope, and ultimately our peace.
• Living your life ruled by shame has and will have significant fallout on your life. Most do not comprehend the depth of the affect shame has on your life.
• Shame- to be ashamed & disgraced
• It refers to a state of embarrassment or humiliation.

• It is an adverb that means backward, backward motion, falling backward, walking or looking back.
• Shame is always past (backward) focused. We all have a past. We have all sinned. Everyone has moments of embarrassment or humiliation.
• The enemy uses the past to try to establish our present mindset negatively so our future is limited by the toxicity of our past.
• Prov 4:23 above all else, guard your heart for out of it flows the issues of your life.

• Because of this reality, we must all keep shame, along with regret & guilt, in the proper place- THE PAST!
• We cannot fall into satan’s trap of living ruled by the past shame and allow him to ruin our present and our futures.
• Let’s just establish this- you are forgiven by God!
• No matter how bad your past was, you may have committed the worst sins listed in scripture. God still loves you & He has a plan & a purpose for your life!

• God’s promises for your future have not been erased because of the mistakes of the past.
• Jere 29:11

• Don’t allow shame to cause you to live saved, but not free.
• Gal 5:1 Jesus came with freedom.

• John 8:36 whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

• The world’s plan is to keep you in a prison of shame & condemnation, but God’s plan is to set you free from that prison.

• Rom 10:11 whoever believes in Jesus will not be put to shame.

• Isa 61:7 instead of your shame, you shall have double honor, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion.

• Biblical Realities of Shame:
• 1.Shame is a liar & a thief
• 2.Shame is not of God
• 3.Jesus alone is your answer
• Romans 8:1-2 There is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus…. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ has made me free from the law of sin & death.

• Your sin & shame do not count against you anymore
• Jesus has washed it away. You do not have to carry any form of condemnation any longer.
• John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.

• It is time we as believers allow the dark cloud of shame/condemnation to be lifted off our lives.
• It is time to receive fully what Jesus did for us on the cross!
• It is time to be free from your past.
• John 8:4 This woman was caught in the very act of adultery.

• Interesting they didn’t bring the man
• There will always be people ready to accuse you, to put shame on you
• John 8:7-9 the accusers leave one by one “convicted by their conscience”

• Sometimes you need to let your accusers get out of your life
• Stop elevating the accusing voice to a position of authority in your mind- including your own
• John 8:10 “Where are your accusers”

• John 8:11 Neither do I condemn you, go & sin no more.

• Here is the key to how Jesus deals with us- Jesus deals in affect & cause.
• The world deals in cause & affect, but Jesus affects us to cause us to live right- “go and sin no more”
• Rom 2:4 it is the goodness of God that leads man to repentance.

•
Satan is the accuser. Jesus is the forgiver/redeemer

The Holy Spirit will convict you, but will never accuse you- huge difference.

Holy Spirit will always convict wrong behavior, sin, unhealthy thinking or living, but never with accusation.

Holy Spirit convicts to empower you to live a Godly life, your best life
Affect & cause.

Never underestimate the power of getting sin out of your life.

Breaking the power of repetitive sin breaks the power of shame & condemnation.

Notice though, when this woman was free from condemnation, she also became free from sin.

• Romans 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed fo the gospel of Christ, for the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first & also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith as it is written, “the just shall live by faith”

• You are to live by faith, not by sin or condemnation!!!
