READ AGAIN: Luke 17:11-19

  1. Individuals with leprosy were considered outcasts from society. These passages say that the ten men called out upon seeing Jesus. How do you think these men knew that it was Jesus “from a distance”?
  2. Verse 14 does not specify how far the ten men had to travel in order to see the priests. Do you think they had to travel far? What does this say about their obedience?
  3. If they did have to travel far, what does it say about the one that returned to praise God? (v.15)
  4. Why does Jesus mention the fact that the cleansed one that returned was a Samaritan?
  5. In what sense was the man “made well” because of his faith? Is this different than the physical wellness they achieved after seeing the priests?
  6. What does this passage teach us about gratitude?

Reflect: (You do not need to answer this aloud if in small groups)
What in your life do you need to be thankful for?
Have you asked God for something but have not thanked Him for it?

Pray: “God, let me always show my gratitude and praise to you first and foremost before I ever pray for requests. May my actions and my words bring praise and glory to your Name. Thank you for everything you do in my life. Amen.”
