Mark 16:1-8 ESV
“When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. 2 And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. 3 And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” 4 And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back — it was very large. 5 And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. 6 And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” 8 And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.”

Sermon Discussion Guide

Big Idea:

Happy Easter! He has risen! All of us who believe in the resurrection have an opportunity. “Our lives - how we live and love and laugh, parent our children, display patience and kindness and be generous - all of these things are evidence that Jesus is alive and that he has risen. And we have the opportunity to show others evidence in our own lives that we are witnesses to something that can change everything. Witnesses to something that offers hope, joy, and peace to a world full of people desperately searching for all of these things.”

THOUGHTS FROM THE SERMON
Read Mark 16:1-8. What stood out to you in the reading?

How were you impacted by the message this week?

Why do people still demand evidence for the resurrection and not other things they believe without any evidence?

This week, what evidence did we find that proves Christ rose from the grave?

What similarities do all four gospels share? Why is there value in the woman’s testimony of the resurrection?

What did they expect to find when they got to the tomb? What did they find instead?

How are we witnesses to the resurrection? How can our lives be evidence that Jesus is alive?
