Psalms 62:1-63:11

62:5 | The wait for God is best understood as expectant faith in God. This is the antidote to despair.

62:9 | The brevity of life, shown by its comparison to a vapor, is fleshed out in Job 7:16 and Ecclesiastes 2:18-19 and 6:12.

63:3-6 | Taken collectively, this presents an image of praising God with one’s entire being, even through memories (I remember you). Praise does not come only from one’s mouth.

63:3 | David’s life hung in the balance, yet he realized that true life is found in God alone. God’s lovingkindness is better than life because it extends beyond life. David consistently revealed himself to be a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22).

63:6 | Remembrance is more than mental recollection; it recounts God’s great deeds as an act of worship.

63:8 | With the statement Your right hand upholds me, David reminds himself that God will deal with David’s problems. God often subtly assures His people that all will be made well when they go through difficulties.
