Lesson Overview: Growth Places
Thirty years of Jesus’ life was spent in Nazareth. He grew up there. He was raised by his mother, Mary, and his earthly father, Joseph. During that time, Jesus went to some very significant places that produced tremendous growth in his life. As we look at these places in scripture, there are some important lessons we can learn for our own lives today.

Why do you think God gave us so little information about the early years of Jesus’ life?

Read Luke 2:50-52. What are some things we can assume about Jesus’ family life based on these verses?

How would your family life growing up compare to that of Christ’s life?

Read Luke 3:21-22. How does baptism serve as a step of spiritual growth in our lives? Is this a step you need to take?

Read Luke 4:13 & 14. How did Satan tempt Jesus, and what happened as Jesus resisted him?

Read 1 John 2:16. Where are some of the places where Satan brings temptation in your life?

Read Luke 4:28-31. How do you think Jesus felt when he returned to his hometown of Nazareth?

Have there been times in your life where overcoming temptation or rejection have made you stronger?

What takeaways do you see from the growth places in Jesus’ life that apply to your life today?
