Part 3: Open Your Eyes

(Matthew 28:19) “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”

(Mark 16:15) He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel…”

(Acts 1:8) “..and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the world.”

(Luke 24:50) …he lifted up his hands and blessed them.

(James 4:14) Life is a vapor, here for a while then gone.

  • We cannot what we cannot .

(John 4:27-35) Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?” Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” They came out of the town and made their way toward him. Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.” But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?” “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.”

  • If God answered all my prayers, would it change or just change ?

    1. Open our eyes to they are.

  • Problem:

  • Solutions:
    our lives.

Change our thinking: God has placed every

and every in our lives for a reason.

(Proverbs 16:9 ESV) The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

“If we open our eyes and see the world the way Jesus did, we’ll recognize that much of the ministry we can do in this life will consist of opportunities dressed up as interruptions.” –John Maxwell

To change our world we need to start by

    .

    2. Open our eyes to they are.

(Matthew 9:36) When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

(Luke 15:28-32) The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’ “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

To change our world, we have to

    people the way Jesus does.

    3. Open our eyes to they need.

“Truth without grace is mean, but grace without truth is meaningless.”–Pastor Chris Hodges

(John 1:14) The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

To change our world, we need to live lives that display and extend grace and truth

    .

(2 Peter 3:9) The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
