Small Group Notes - Jubilee
June
June - Anxiety, Rest and Trust
These notes link to the talks on Sunday’s 2nd and 16th of June. If you weren’t in church this session can stand alone, but it would help to catch up on the talk by Steve Connolly on June 2nd or to get someone in your group to explain the key points.
Read Psalm 4
Steve suggested three perspectives as we lift our requests to God.
The external is God as Deliver changing the situation. Ps 4:1+3.
The internal is God as Father using the situation to draw near and speak. Ps 4:4-5
The eternal is God a God, unchanging now and forever. Ps 4:7-8
Think/Discuss
Which perspective do I focus my prayer life on?
Which perspective do I talk most about to others – both in church and those who don’t know Jesus.
Do I find any of these easier or harder?
Often understanding these perspectives is a journey from the top down. Can anyone in your group share reflections from their own journey of walking with God over the years and learning to take these different perspectives?
Read Psalm 23
How do I understand Jesus as ‘my Good Shepherd’?
What does it mean when it says ‘You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies.’
How easy/hard do I find it to rest in God?
How easy/hard do I find it to trust in God’s unchanging nature, despite my circumstances?
To end your time you could sing this song together or listen and reflect on the lyrics.
