Message Notes:

In This Series …
We are going to look at different rooms in a house that represent something relationally…
And how Jesus wants to help us keep our houses and families standing.

MISCONCEPTION:
I can’t be hospitable because I am too busy.

MAIN IDEA:

A house that practices hospitality creates a culture of kindness.

It keeps the home Christ centered and not self-centered.

Romans 12:13
When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. NLT

1. It brings your beliefs into the home…and makes them more real.

Hebrews 13:1-3
1 Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. 2 Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! 3 Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself. Remember also those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies. NLT

2. It makes sharing a value for everyone…not just kids with their toys.

1 Peter 4:9-10
9 Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.10 God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. NLT

3. It helps us remember…Jesus told us to.

Luke 14:12-14
He said also to the man who had invited him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” ESV

Matthew 25:35-40
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ NIV
