1. Be Joyful

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

JOY is based on my salvation and not my situation.

JOY is from the inside out.

1 Thessalonians 1:6 You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.

We can find joy in suffering.

1 Thessalonians 3:9-10 How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you? ¹⁰ Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith.

We can find joy in people.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 Rejoice always, ¹⁷ pray continually,

2. Be Prayerful

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

To pray continually is to have a recurring, intentional dependence on God in your life.

Luke 11:9-10 So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. ¹⁰ For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

PRAYER is persistent.

Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

PRAYER and JOY go together.

Colossians 4:2-3 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. ³ And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.

PRAYER and THANKS go together.

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Being THANKFUL leads to peace.
