Acts 20:35 “You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Luke 21:1-2 “Jesus looked up and saw the rich dropping their offerings into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow dropping in two tiny coins.”
Luke 21:3-4 “‘Truly I tell you,’ He said, ‘this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For all these people have put in gifts out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.’”
How To Be Generous
a) Give Generously
2 Corinthians 9:6 “Remember this - a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.”
Proverbs 11:24 “Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything.”
b) Give Intentionally
2 Corinthians 9:7a “You must each decide in your heart how much to give.”
1 Corinthians 16:2 “On every Lord’s Day each of you should put aside something from what you have earned during the week, and use it for this offering. The amount depends on how much the Lord has helped you earn.”
c) Give Cheerfully
2 Corinthians 9:7b-c “And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
d) Give Confidentally
2 Corinthians 9:8 “God is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more so that there will not only be enough for your own needs but plenty left over to give joyfully…”
Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
