Worship God Only

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” 10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”
Matthew 4:8-10 NIV

PRAISE
The word praise means “to be boastful” about something or someone. It means to give value or merit or worth to something or someone.

ASK YOURSELF
What do we put value and merit on? What or who receives our boastful attention?

I. THE TRUE PURPOSE OF PRAISE IS TO EXALT, GIVE VALUE TO, GIVE MERIT TO GOD.

If a congregation will lay aside their value to anything else other than God we would always have a powerful worship service - always.

Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
PSALM 103:1-5 NIV

I HEAR DAVID SAYING, “SOUL, REMEMBER GOD HAS FORGIVEN YOU. SOUL, REMEMBER THAT HE HEALS. SOUL, REMEMBER ALL HE HAS BROUGHT YOU THROUGH, SO PRAISE HIM.”
