
Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
QUESTIONS TO ASK IN SEARCH OF REST
1. What is Rest?
Rest is deep, not just surface.
Rest is spiritual, not just physical.

2. Who Finds Rest?
Matthew 11:28 (NIV) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.””
The weary can find rest.
Exodus 33:12-13 (NIV) Moses said to the LORD, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ 13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”
Exodus 33:14 (NIV) The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
The presence of God will bring rest to you as you serve Him.
The burdened can find rest.
Psalms 23:1-3 (NIV)
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for His name’s sake.
God can refresh you in difficult places.
3. Where Can Rest Be Found?
Matthew 11:28 (NIV) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Jesus’ Invitation: Come to Me
Psalms 116:7 (NIV) Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.
Rest in the goodness of God.
1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Rest in the care of God.
Psalms 55:22 (NIV) Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.
Matthew 11:27 (NIV) “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
Matthew 11:28 (NIV) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Rest in Jesus.
COMMUNION
1 Corinthians 11:27-29 (NIV) So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. 29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.
1 Corinthians 11:23-24 (NIV) For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
1 Corinthians 11:25-26 (NIV) In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
