Life Group Discussion Questions Week #2

For the week of April 28 - May 3, 2025

QUICK REVIEW

Thinking back to the weekend sermon, “The Power of Personal Testimony,” summarize the main point in a sentence or two.

Was there anything you heard for the first time or that caught your attention, challenged, or confused you?

Do you plan on taking any practical steps this week in response to the message?

GETTING TO KNOW YOU

How would you respond if someone opened a gospel door to you by asking you why you are a Christian?

Have you ever heard someone share their testimony compellingly and memorably? What did they do or say that was so noteworthy?

DIGGING DEEPER

  1. Read Luke 10:1-16. What mission did Jesus give the seventy (two)?

Why do you think the command “Ask the Lord” (10:2) precedes the command “Go” (10:3)?

What are some practical ways you can put both commands into practice?

Had the disciples split up instead of traveling in groups of two, they could have reached twice as many people. Why do you think Jesus encouraged them to witness in pairs?

Jesus warned the disciples that He was sending them out as sheep among wolves. Do you feel that is true of us today? Why or why not?

How could identifying a person of peace assist in advancing the gospel?

How could this passage speak to our fear of rejection in sharing the gospel?

  2. Paul opens the letter of 1 Thessalonians, by giving thanks for the notoriety of the Thessalonians’ faith. Read 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10. What stands out to you in this passage?

What was the impact of the gospel Paul preached on the Thessalonians?

Do you think seeing the impact of sharing your faith might motivate you to share your faith more often?

In verse eight, Paul talks about the Thessalonian church’s faith being “known everywhere.” What do you think made their faith so remarkable?

Do the people in your circle recognize your faith, or is it a well‑kept secret?

If they know of your faith, how do they know, and what do they know about it?

Is there any practical step you feel God is inviting you to take in response to this passage?

FOR PRACTICE

The power of our public witness is often tied to the time we spend in private with Jesus. In other words, effective evangelism flows from our love for and connection to Jesus. It sounds like John 15:5, doesn’t it? This week, reflect on your time spent with Jesus and ask yourself꞉ is it focused, consistent, and meaningful? If not, what would have to change for the answer to be yes, yes, and yes? This week’s encouragement is not the practice of a specific discipline but to take time to evaluate your spiritual practices to determine what’s lacking, what’s most life‑giving, and where God would have you make a change.

SHARE IT

Is there anything you heard or learned in the weekend message or Life Group this week that you want to share with someone you know?

PRAYER REQUESTS

According to the Joshua Project estimates, there are over 8 billion people alive today, and 3.43 billion (or over 40%) live in unreached groups with little or no access to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In other words, they are spiritually blind. Pray for Christian missionaries to enter these regions and for the Good News of Jesus to spread, leading to Spirit‑led indigenous Christ‑followers, leaders, and church plants.
