
SHEPHERDS AND FLOCKS
1 Peter 5:1-14
Look to humble leadership. (1-4)
Christian LEADERS are first Christ FOLLOWERS.
Pursue humble “followership.” (5-7)
We come to Christ and stay with Christ by being good followers.
Practice humility as demonic resistance. (8-9)
Wanting your way instead of God’s way is giving way to the devil’s way.
Remember, God will bring restoration. (10-11)
To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Have you ever experienced the fall of a pastor or spiritual leader? Describe the experience?
Is it possible that a lack of humility played a role in the situation? How so?
How might it help Christian leaders to remember that they are first (and foremost) followers (of Christ)?
Have you ever met a poor church FOLLOWER? Describe their poor “followership.”
Does modern church culture help or hurt church “followership?” Explain.
What are some ways we can evaluate if we are pursuing our personal desires or God’s will?
Read 1 Timothy 3:1-7. What qualities does Paul list for Timothy to look for in looking for elders to lead the church? How many of the the qualities relate to the elder’s character?
Using a scale of 1-10, how willing are you to:
- submit to godly leadership? (1 Pet 5:5-6)
- to confess your sin?
- to accept correction? (Prov 10:17)
- look for God’s Word to change you? (Is 66:1-2)
- serve others? (Philippians 1:1, 2 Corinthians 4:5, Matthew 23:11)
- forgive? (Matthew 18: 21-35)
- associate with people of lower state than you? (Luke 7:36-39).
PRAY for the leadership of Granger MC, that they will remain or become humble - pursuing God’s kingdom and not their own.
PRAY that you might follow well - following Christ then godly leadership.
