Topic:Samson Part 1
Key Bible Passage: Judges: 13:1-5; 14:1-4, 15:11-13

Icebreaker:: “Share a personal story about a rule, guideline, or boundary—whether from home, work, or personal life—that at first felt restrictive but later revealed itself as a source of unexpected blessing or protection.”

Alternative Icebreaker::Think back on your life to date. Was there a moment you viewed as a failure that God has used for His purpose (e.g. in sharing your testimony with others) or to help you in your personal faith journey?

REFLECTIONS

1. Living Within God’s Guardrails

    Read John 14:23 together
      - What does it mean in your daily life to “live within the guardrails God has placed in His Word”?

      - Can you think of a moment when following God’s guidelines alleviated stress or brought clarity to a difficult decision?

      - How might this intentional living contrast with the chaos of a “free-for-all” lifestyle?

      - Matthew 16:24, Luke 9:23, and Mark 8:34 all suggest taking up the cross and following Jesus. Genuinely loving Christ entails denying self and even embracing hardship for His name at times. How does this attitude on faith impact your perspective on the term “guardrails”? Does it shift from why are they there, to I understand and want them there?

2. Using Your God-Given Gifts

    Read Ephesians 2:10 together
      - Samson was blessed with an extraordinary gift—his strength—even though he struggled with how to use it. In what ways do you recognize your own gifts or passions?

      - Culture has a way of tempting us to use our talents solely for personal gain rather than for a higher calling. As you consider your talents, how have you OR how might you reorient your priorities?

      - What does it look like to live a life that’s “far greater than the American dream” by being a faithful ambassador of Christ?

      - In Romans 12:1 God calls us to be living sacrifices. Does that mean we need to be perfect people before we serve our Lord?

3. Redemption After Failure

Read Romans 12:21 and Galatians 6:9 together

      - Samson’s story shows us a cycle of hurt people hurting more people. Jesus could have retaliated against the devil when he attacked. But he didn’t. Hurt people hurt people. Forgiven people forgive people. Consider those who have hurt you in the past as part of redemption after failure in a relationship.

      - Samson’s story reminds us that failure is not final. Can you share a time when you felt like you had lost your way or squandered a blessing

      - In what practical ways can embracing the idea that “failure is not final” empower you to persevere and pursue God’s purpose for your life?

4. Reflecting on Repentance and Renewal

    Read Psalm 145:18 together
      - Both Samson and the New Testament prodigal son remind us that repentance leads to new beginnings. What steps do you think are essential in turning a failing moment into a stepping stone for growth?
