When you know who you , you will know what to .

Identity before Behavior

Ephesians 4:1
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the
calling you have

.

 Paul doesn’t say to earn your calling—he says live up to it.
 Identity isn’t something we achieve—it’s something we receive in
Christ.
 You’re not trying to become someone—you already are someone.

Unity flows from Identity

Ephesians 4:2-6

Be completely humble and gentle; be

, bearing with one another
in love. Make every effort to keep the of the Spirit through the bond
of peace. There is body and one Spirit, just as you were called to
one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one
God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

 Paul urges humility, gentleness, patience, love.
 Why? Because we are one body, one Spirit, with one Lord—not
separated, not isolated.
 Like players on the same team—if they forget their shared goal,
they fight against each other.

Every Part Matters

Ephesians 4:7, 11-12
But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the
pastors and teachers, to

his people for works of service, that the
body of Christ may be built up.

 Jesus gives gifts to the Church - not only for Church leaders.
 Every believer has a role to play in building up the body.
 Spiritual growth isn’t about sitting still—it’s about showing up.

Maturity equals becoming like Christ

Ephesians 4:13-16

…until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of
God and become

, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness
of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves,
and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning
and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking
the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature
body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body,
joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds
itself up in love, as part does its .

 Paul says we grow into Christ as the whole body works together.
 Speaking the truth in love, supporting one another.
 This is not about what I do—it’s about what we become.

When you know who you , you will know what to .

Ephesians 4:15-16
We will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is
the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

When you know who you are, you will know what to do.
