Exodus 16:2 GWT

In the desert the whole community complained about Moses and Aaron.

Kingdom Truth

A slave anticipates the oppressor’s whip and finds rest and lodging in complaining.

An heir lives with an expectation of good and is thankful.

Exodus 16:3 MSG

The Israelites said, “Why didn’t God let us die in comfort in Egypt where we had lamb stew and all the bread we could eat? You’ve brought us out into this wilderness to starve us to death, the whole company of Israel!”

Kingdom Truth

When coming to the end of our own ability to handle our lives, we will look for someone to blame for being in the state we’re in and romanticize about our oppressive past.

Exodus 16:4-5 NLT

4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Look, I’m going to rain down food from heaven for you. Each day the people can go out and pick up as much food as they need for that day. I will test them in this to see whether or not they will follow my instructions.
5 On the sixth day they will gather food, and when they prepare it, there will be twice as much as usual.”

KINGDOM TRUTH

Will you hear and act on what was said?

Will you get in the flow of trusting God?

Exodus 16:8 NLT

Then Moses added, “The Lord will give you meat to eat in the evening and bread to satisfy you in the morning, for he has heard all your complaints against him. What have we done? Yes, your complaints are against the Lord, not against us.”

Exodus 16:11-12 NLT

11 Then the Lord said to Moses,
12 “I have heard the Israelites’ complaints. Now tell them, ‘In the evening you will have meat to eat, and in the morning you will have all the bread you want. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’”

How can God give you the desires your heart if you don’t trust Him enough to say them out loud?

James 4:2-3 NLT

2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.
3 And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

James 1:5-8 NKJV

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

TIFAW

I am an heir, not a slave.

Therefore, I live like an heir with a confident expectation of good, listening to the voice of my Father, and trusting Him.

I trust God to give me the desires of my heart because He put them there.
