The Power of Prevailing Prayer
Text: Ephesians 6:11-18
Dr. David L. Sampson

He is the Almighty God, of whom Paul said:
Ephesians 3:20-21 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

When we pray, we’re not God—we’re God into our lives.

I. The of Prevailing Prayer– verse 18a

Paul uses the word “all” four times in one verse:
• Praying always
• With all prayer and supplication
• With all perseverance
• For all saints

Prayer is not ; it is .

Let’s think about three questions:
1. What keeps us girded with truth?
2. What keeps us righteous?
3. What keeps us ready to witness?

II. The of Spiritual Prayer– verse 18b

A. The Hidden Place – Matthew 6:6; Mark 1:35

B. The Heavenly Place – Ephesians 1:3

C. The Holy Place – “All prayer and supplication”

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

III. The of Intercessory Prayer – verse 18c

• Verse 18 reminds us that spiritual warfare is not just about protecting ourselves—it’s about standing in the gap for others.

  1. Intercession Requires Spiritual
  2. Intercession Perseveres Despite
  3. Intercession Prioritizes

You must widen the circle—from

“God, help me.” to “God, help them.”
