Encounters with Jesus 1
July 27, 2019

Summary
When we encounter Jesus we don’t just encounter him and his being, we encounter a new way of life. We encounter all of him and everything about him.
Active obedience is needed If we are to push forwards in our pursuit of God and bringing his kingdom to earth. It brings us into a new level of relationship with Jesus. To be active is to be constantly stepping out , being responsive to what the spirit is saying. Peter demonstrates a continuous obedience to the lord when he meets with Jesus on the water, this wasn’t his first encounter. He was obedient from before and in his active pursuit of God he met with Jesus on the water.
We must see what the Father does first to know what to do. We must listen to what the Father is saying to know what to say. Encountering Jesus and his spirit can happen regularly. It’s a journey and one moment in Christ does not make it, it does not mean the work is done. It should be the catapult for more encounters and so we can be encounters for other people and be gods hands and feet on earth.
There will be opposition when you step out in faith and respond to the spirit, but what will be manifested from the encounters and the work that will be done from the active obedience massively outshines that. It’s worth it. Be active

Key Scriptures
Matthew 14:22-32 - Immediately after this, Jesus insisted that his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, while he sent the people home. After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone.
Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. About three o’clock in the morning[b] Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!”
But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!”
Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”
“Yes, come,” Jesus said.
So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.
Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”
When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped. Then the disciples worshiped him. “You really are the Son of God!” they exclaimed.
