GROUP DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
Opening Prayer, Ice-Breaker, Worship: (begin with prayer, a fun ice-breaker, or a time of worship)
Recap & Context of Sermon: Holistic Discipleship means following Jesus’ footsteps, living out our new life, identity, and purpose in every area of life. Eric talked about our new purpose as a disciple, being sent as ambassadors, and the appealing message of reconciliation.
Read the Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Group Discussion Questions
1) When you think of the word missions what comes to mind? What has been your experience with missions?
2) What does being an ambassador for Christ look like in your life?
3) What does reconciliation mean biblically? How would you explain the Gospel to someone?
4) How can we as a group work toward being holistic disciples in the context of bearing fruit on mission together? What upcoming GPC missions trips could we prayerfully consider joining?
Application: Eric challenged us to think of people we know who need Jesus, and what actions we can take to point them to Him. As a church, we want to be known as people who care deeply for others. With that being said, we also ask these questions: how can we give, how can we pray, and where should we go? Let’s take some time to reflect on these questions this week and follow up on them next time we meet as a group!
Time of Honor: “Outdo one another in showing honor” (Romans 12:10). Take a few minutes to honor one another in the group, encouraging in traits that you see modeled well as followers of Christ.
Prayer: How can we as a group help/support/pray for one another?
